Back - loud and clear

Well, I've finally arrived, unpacked (almost) and set up work in my new home town, Narromine. Its been a very busy and tiring week last week, on top of which I've been an extremely bad blogger and not blogged since. I was having a little trouble with my internet and mobile reception out here, but it all seems to be working (touch wood). So now that i've set up my office, I will be back on board this week. Elki's online store is still in progress and will be up and running in two weeks. Here are some photos of our new place, it was the best I could do with my camera and limited internet access! :)

[mag love] the [sydney] magazine

Its that time of the month again...The [Sydney] Magazine time! Every month the Sydney Morning Herald produce one super glossy, over luxurious, could-never-afford-anything-in-there, magazine. They have a great design and look and I love the mix of photography and typography. One of my favourite things, are the large pieces of 3D type that are used in the photoshoots. It adds such depth to what could have been a flat white space. The monochromatic and vibrant colour contrasts, I'm also a fan of (if anyone has seen my portfolio!). The high-end photoshoots are also on par with international fashion magazines. And all for the price of $2.20!

Plus this month they feature one of my favourite designers, Marc Newson. As well as a run down on Sydney Design 09 - a must for all design lovers, be it interior, architecture, print and more. A must read.

So don't laugh if you see me standing at the country newsagents door, last Thursday of every month (to get my Sydney fix!). Is anyone else a fan, or am I am just blinded by the gloss stock!
p.s their website does no justice for the glossy goddess.

Happy weekend

Good morning, well the winter sunshine is out and its Friday. This is officially my last weekend in Sydney. Georgie and I are going to try and cram as much in this weekend (coffee, lunch, drinks, going to all of our fave stores, and most importantly sewing elki things!) Hope you have a great weekend, fingers crossed the weather will be gorgeous. :)

elki design - sneak preview

Sorry for the sparse blogs, we've been so busy organising everything for the launch of the online store. The weekend was spent sewing and taking photos, and here are just a few. This weekend, will again be the same. I'm also hosting a 'high tea' for my bridesmaids' before I move to the country. I will try and get some time to do proper posts, but in the mean time I hope you enjoy :)

elki design

Our online store will be up and running in only a few weeks time! You will be able to buy our entire range of children's wear, homewares, stationery and accessories. Made all carefully by hand using Liberty of London fabrics and other beautiful cottons. I'm very very excited and this weekend will be another weekend of sewing and designing. Stay tuned :)

[blog love] brown button

I'm moving from the city to our little farm house in 3 weeks time. So I've been looking around for decorating ideas and 'affordable' items to personalise our home with. Emphasis on affordable, as I'll be leaving my full-time job and working on the elki range and freelancing! These are just a few items on my 'must-purchase' list, and the best bit - Brown Button Trading is Australian and online! Also check out Kimberlee's blog, Brown Button blog.

Aren't these silver partridge birds the cutest! I could see them perched in the lounge somewhere. And I'm thinking the clock for the kitchen, with the hen blackboard sticker for the fridge. For all those last minute items we need from town.
